Redskins Girls Dominates Its Foes and Win City League Tournament

The Wichita North Redskin Girls dominated its foes and virtually walked away with the City League Tournament. It came as no surprise the Redskins would win the City League since they’ve been ranked either number one or two all season long in Class 6-5A. If you look at North’s line-up, they have some unbelievable talent throughout their lower and middle weights, so much that six out of the first eight weight classes have Lady Redskins ranked in the top six of their weight classes in Class 6-5A. In fact, to prove a point as to how dominant they are in their lower and middle weights, five Lady Redskins won their weight classes helping North to win the City League by a landslide with scoring 171 team points, almost 70 points better than Kapaun the runner-up team. Led by Redskin Champions Bilhah Bengi @ 101, Larissa Garcia @ 109, Rodah Bengi @ 115, Diana Urista @ 120 and Jaycee Tyler @ 143 along with five other teammates placing in the top four, showed why they are the real deal in Kansas Girls wrestling circles.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel and Northwest with finishing in second and third in the team race actually had fairly good representation at the tournament with seeing Gianna Redcorn @ 170 and Catherine Burr @ 191 winning titles for the Kapaun Crusaders and placing five other in the top four. The Northwest Grizzlies likewise duplicating similar success with crowning a champion in Lillianna Gallegos @ 132 and placing four teammates in the top four.

Once the top three schools finished crowning champions in nine weights, that left three vacant spots open to fill. And it was promptly filled with three other schools getting involved in the winners circle with Haley Somchay of Wichita-East @ 126, Delilah Sherbin of Wichita-South @ 155, and Druzzla Johnson of Wichita-West @ 235.
