[Men's Wrestling] MWR: Six Wrestlers Will Compete at NAIA Nationals in Wichita, Kan. this weekend

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men’s wrestling team will have six compete at NAIA Nationals this weekend in Wichita, Kan. The Ottawa Wrestlers secured their place in the NAIA National Qualifier on Feb. 12-13. Bobby Robinson Jr., Ryan Delforge, JD Perez, Cameron Young-Leggett, Carson Savage and Benito Hernandez will compete at the NAIA Nationals on March 5th and 6th in Wichita, Kan.

In the preliminary brackets, Bobby Robinson Jr. will face #11 CJ Shadinger from Reinhardt University in the first round of the 133lb weight division. #11 Ryan Delforge received a bye in the first round and will face #6 John Fox from York College in the second round of the 149lb weight class. In the 174lb weight division, JD Perez received a bye in the first round and will face #2 Casey Randles from Grand View University in the second round. #7 Cameron Young-Leggett will go against Gabe Jacobs from Cumberlands University in the first round of the 187lb weight class. In the 197lb weight class, #8 Carson Savage received a bye in the first round and will face the winner of #9 Carlos Figueora (Lindsey Wilson)/Dayton Brown (Missouri Valley) in the second round. #10 Benito Hernandez will compete in the first round of the 285lb weight class against Brandon Antesberger from Doane College.

Ottawa secured the KCAC/Sooner Title on Feb. 12th and 13th. This is the second KCAC title for Head Coach Colby Crank and the Ottawa University Braves. Bobby Robinson Jr., Cameron Young-Leggett and Benito Hernandez all finished first in their weight divisions. Robinson Jr. in the 133lb weight class, Young-Leggett in the 187lb weight division and Hernandez in the 285lb weight division.

The NAIA released their fifth NAIA Top 20 Poll and Ottawa comes in at #18. NAIA also released Individual Rankings and five Brave wrestlers are ranked. Ryan Delforge is ranked #12 in the 149lb weight division. In the 157lb weight divison, Gabriel McDuffie comes in at #14. Carson Savage moved up another spot in the 197lb weight class, Savage is ranked #7. Two wrestlers are ranked in the 285lb weight division, Benito Hernandez is ranked 11th and Dalton Sikes is ranked 20th.
