[Wrestling] Braedon Clopton Announced as Assistant Coach for Wrestling

LINDSBORG – The Bethany College Department of Athletics, Dean of Athletics Laura Moreno, and Head Wrestling Coach Mitch Houghton announced today that Braedon Clopton will serve as the next assistant wrestling coach for the Swedes.

Clopton arrives in Lindsborg from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa where he was a student assistant. As part of his duties at Briar Cliff Clopton assisted with travel, recruiting, and coaching. He coached five national qualifiers. 

He also serves as the Head Coach for the Future Stars Wrestling Club a youth wrestling organization designed to help kids improve their wrestling abilities through practices and open tournaments. 

“I am very excited for Braedon to join the coaching staff here at Bethany. His experience and passion for the sport as well as his leadership qualities make him the perfect addition to the Bethany College family.” Said Head Wrestling Coach Mitch Houghton.

Before entering coaching Clopton was a member of the Wrestling team at Briar Cliff where he helped lead the team to the 2018 GPAC Championship. He was named second team All-GPAC in 2019-20. 

Prior to his time at Briar Cliff Clopton was a member of the Wrestling team at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. In High School, he wrestled for Castle High School where he was a two-time sectional champion, two-time regional place winner, and two-time semi state qualifier.
