Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles Soar To Victory in Wichita City League Tourney

The Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles soared to victory and claimed the Greater Wichita City League Tournament for the second consecutive year in a row by performing an overall dominating team experience with scoring a whopping 227 team points. In actuality, the City League was dominated by the two Wichita Catholic Schools with both Parochial schools winning five championships a piece. The difference in the scoring outcome however, was that the Golden Eagles of Bishop Carroll managed to place 13 wrestlers out of 14 weights including 5 champions with Caden Denton @ 106, Karston Wall @ 120, Caleb Means @ 138, Ryan Pacha @145 and Antonio Huerta @ 160. In addition, the Golden Eagles celebrated with four Runner-Ups, two bronze medalist and a 4th place finisher. The Crusaders of Kapaun Mt. Carmel meanwhile, had a respectable showing of their own with placing nine wrestlers in the tournament to help them score 165 team points. They were led by champions in Bubba Wright @ 126, Austin Ruda @ 132, Adrian Turner @152, Omari Elias @ 170 and Nathan Fury @ 182.

The Wichita Northwest Grizzlies finished a respectable 3rd place in the team race with 133 points and captured a couple of champions of their own with Zach Morford @ 195 and Caden Ross @ 220. Overall, Northwest placed in eleven weight classes which helped them to secure a bronze trophy.

Once the top three teams finished out winning 12 individual championships out of 14 weights, that left only two slots open for other teams to claim titles. That occurred when Richard Shields of Wichita North High School @ 113 and Matt Godsey of Wichita South @ 285 got their arms raised in victory with an opportunity to stand a top the winners podium.
