HAYS, KS. – Newman Wrestling competed in their third tournament this fall, competing in the Bob Smith Open hosted by Fort Hays State.
Jace Fisher placed in his second tournament this season, having placed first at the Falcon Invite to open the season. Fisher would go 4-1 in the tournament, with the lone loss being the only one he has suffered thus far in the 2023-24 season.
Although no one else on the team placed, their were some impressive individual results. Collin Creach defeated a division I opponent from Colorado State in the consolation bracket, that saw him make it to the later rounds of that side of the bracket. Jevin Foust would also make it to the later rounds of the consolation bracket, losing narrowly to an opponent from Division I Oklahoma State.
The Jets will have a dual against nationally ranked Central Oklahoma next Sunday, and will finish out the fall portion of the season at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis in two weekends.
