T-Bird Wrestling Falls To #8 Pratt, #17 Labette On Tuesday Afternoon

PARSONS, Kan. – Battling a mix of injuries and trying to keep wrestlers fresh for the final stretch of the season, the number 20-ranked Cloud County Community College wrestling team would drop a pair of duals on Tuesday afternoon at the Labette Community College double dual in Parsons, Kansas on February 23rd.

CCCC’s first dual of the day would come as a 57-0 loss to number-eight ranked Pratt while host and number-17 ranked Labette would down the T-Birds by a final of 48-6 in Cloud County’s second dual. 

The T-Birds would give up four open weight classes (125, 133, 165, 174) against the Beavers as Pratt would take four of the six contested bouts by fall while also earning a technical fall at 157 pounds and a 12-4 major decision at 184 pounds. 

In Cloud County’s match with the Cardinals, CCCC would have open weight classes at 125, 133, 165, 174, and 285 as the lone win by the T-Birds against Labette would come courtesy of a fall by Brian Paxton at 184 pounds. 

What’s Next?

Cloud County will be off for the next week before returning to action on Tuesday, March 2nd when the T-Birds have their final home action of the year with a double dual against Neosho and Colby. Action will begin at 4 p.m. with Neosho and Colby facing off before CCCC and Neosho wrestle at 6 p.m. The final dual of the night is set to begin at 8 p.m. and will feature Cloud County and Colby.
