Wrestling takes dual over University of St. Mary, 28-19

Men’s Wrestling – Sun, Jan. 17, 2021

LEAVENWORTH – The Raven Wrestling team returned to the mat on Friday night with a trip down Highway 73 to take on the University of St. Mary.

Benedictine earned a 28-19 win in the dual as they earned wins in four of the nine matches contested.

Keenan Graef (157 pounds) and Franco Camarca (165 pounds) earned a win by fall for the Ravens. Gino Camarca (149 pounds) earned a 15-1 decision over USM’s Greg Dean and Tyson Albright (184 pounds) won by forfeit over Justin Kearney to round out the night for the Ravens.

“Very proud of the work these guys have been putting in,” said head coach Marcus Cobbs. “This dual is always very competitive. We really wanted to win this dual and the men showed it in every match. They fought tooth and nail through every second. It’s great seeing the hard work these guys put in the room displayed in competition.”

The Ravens are now set to make their home debut this week as they host three duals on campus. Tuesday night, the Ravens host William Penn University in a Heart dual, and then they will also be wrestling Central Christian College. Because of mitigation efforts to keep all of the wrestlers and staff of Tuesday’s dual safe, fan attendance on Tuesday will not be permitted.

Friday night, the Ravens host a dual with Graceland University at 6 p.m. and fans will be allowed to attend that event inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.
