Women’s Wrestling opens season at Falcon Invite

WICHITA, KANSAS –The Lady Tigers opened up their 2021-22 season heading down to Wichita earlier today to compete in the tournament hosted by Friends University.

The Lady Tigers were represented by Audree Garcia (101), Andrea Contreas (116), Alyssa Sanchez (116), Cassidy Anderson (130), and Haylee McDonald (170).

Audree Garcia lost in her opening round against Ana Bradshaw (Missouri Baptist) by fall (1:24). The following round Garcia received a bye, followed by a win by injury over Natalia Caldwell (St. Mary’s) at 3:00 minutes. Her next round she would win by forfeit over Kaylee Harker (William Jewell). The next round she wrestled against Angelina Rediger (St. Mary’s) to which she would win by Decision (10-1). Audree would conclude the tournament against Ana Bradshaw for the 2nd time, and Bradshaw won by fall (2:06).

Andrea Contreas opened up with a win by tech. fall over Skye Cavallaro (St. Mary’s) ,TF 12-1. The next round Contreas took on Alexis Allen (Colorado Mesa) who would defeat Contreas by decision (20-13). Contreas would conclude the tournament against Serenity Goree (Midland) who won by fall (2:39)

Andrea Contreas goes 1-2, earning 2.5 team points

Alyssa Sanchez opened the tournament against Rose Marshall (Friends U.) who won by fall (0:36). Next round would be a bye, before she would conclude the tournament against Tiana Savino (Hastings) who won by tech fall (10-0).

Cassidy Anderson opens up the tournament with a win by tech fall over McKenna Deckelman (Central Methodist) (10-0). Next round Cassidy would lose by tech fall by Kylie Robledo (Baker) 10-0. Cassidy responded with a win by fall over Zahirah Tanaka (Friends U.) (1:41). Keeping the momentum going Cassidy won again by decision over Avery Thomason (Midland) (5-4). She would conclude the tournament against Sabrina King (Central Methodist) who won by tech fall (10-0).

Cassidy Anderson goes 3-2, earns 5.5 team points

Haylee McDonald started the tournament against Brittney Zenteno (Indian Hills) who won by fall (2:29). The next round McDonald received a bye, followed by her last round against Olivia Ricci (Wayland Baptist) who would win by tech fall (10-0)
