Wilkowski Wins Title, Tapia Brothers Runner-up At Dan Harris Wrestling Tourney

Baldwin City, KS – The Neosho CC Wrestling competed at the Dan Harris Open hosted by Baker University on Sunday, Nov. 5th.  The Panther’s saw competition from NCAAII, NAIA and Junior College levels. Ed Wilkowski (Watertown, WI) went 3-0 on the day winning the title at 125lbs. Starting off the day with a major decision of 12-3 over Labette’s Caleb Collins. In the semi-finals Wlkowski won by Technical Fall (16-0) over Nat’aani Prado, and winning the championship match with a 5-3 decision over Baker’s Saoul Prado.

Jace and Joe Tapia both finished runner-up. Jace went 3-1 on the day, with a win over Barton’s Cohen Suchy (16-9) in the semi finals, and dropped a hard fought match to Baker’s Dallas Koelzer (5-2) in the finals. Joe Tapia also had a 3-1 record over the weekend with a fall against Sam Clevenger, and a decision over Ouachia Baptist’s Luke Brunson. In the semi-final Tapia defeated Baker’s Roman Bushek by fall. In the finals Tapia lost a tough match to Bakers Brett Bober by a technical fall (15-0).

Coach Matt Hansen said “Overall we performed well today but we are still not there yet. We need to keep our nose to the grindstone and keep improving”

The Panthers next competition will be the Viking Open at Carl Albert State College on Sat. Nov. 11th
