Some accomplishments of your team and wrestlers |
Washburn Rural Women’s Wrestling returns 6 state qualifiers and 4 state medalists. Last year’s tournament schedule was decimated by covid, but the team finished 15-1 in duals. Rural is the defending league, sub-state, regional, and state championship team (division 1). |
General thoughts on your program and team |
The most important and most difficult task in building a championship program is developing relationships and gelling as a team. We have had a great deal of success at Rural, and that’s almost exclusively due to the fact that our girls understand the value in relationship building. They wrestle for each other. However, this year we have a new cast of characters, so like every year, we are going to have to re-start the process if we want to win a third-straight state title. |
Who’s on the coaching staff? |
Damon Parker-Head Coach Lindsay Parker-Assistant Coach Jessie Stonebraker-Assistant Coach Sabastion Cuffel-Assistant Coach Daniel Reling-Assistant Coach (added to the staff this season) Sabastion, Jessie, and Lindsay were selected as the 2020-2021 women’s wrestling assistant coaching staff of the year for the state of Kansas. |
