Jim Ramirez The Maize Eagles, number 1 ranked team in Class 5A according to the latest Kansas Wrestling Polls made a convincing and season opening statement, that they will be a team to reckon with come post season tournament time with crowning nine champions in the Ark City Wayne Jackson Wrestling Duals.
Every dual they competed in saw the Eagles soaring through competition with picking up bonus point wins to easily out distance themselves from the rest of the field with accumulating 50 points or better margins of victory wins.
Only Ark City who finished the day with a 4 and 1 record and two individual champions was the only team to score more than 20 team points against the Eagles, but still that was not enough for the match to even be close with losing by 30 team points.
Three matches that spectators waited to see were the 126 lb weight class where two state champions went head-to-head against one another.
