Women's Wrestling competes at the York College Open for their season opener

York, Nebraska – Women’s Wrestling opens up their season in York, NE as they participated in the York College Open 

The teams included #1 Wayland Baptist, #2 Cumberland University, Top 5 Lyon College, Jamestown (conference champions 2019-2020) Midland University, Waldorf College, Schreiner University, Baker University, Indian Hills, Grandview University, Hastings College and tournament host York College. 

Tigers were planning on participating both days at the open, but due to heath concerns they decided to attend only one day of the event. 

Coach Schreimann would take 5 freshman wrestlers to the event in which he said “he was proud of their effort on how they handled the pressure with being thrown into the fire of their first performance”. 

The Lady Tigers came away with one placer, Haley Schafer took 4th place at 155 lbs. She handled the pressure quite well. She finished the day with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Others to compete were Maddy Haidusek 0-2 at 109 lbs. Shay Esposito 0-2 at 191 lbs.  Kassidy Khamvongsa 0-2 at 116 lbs. and Cassidy Anderson  0-1 before injuring defaulting her second match at 136 lbs. 

Lady Tigers will return to action on January 29th when we travel to Lyon College for a dual meet tournament.
