The 12th-ranked Fort Hays State wrestling team hits the road for the first time this season Thursday (Jan. 14) when they take on No. 16 Colorado School of Mines. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. MT) inside Volk Gymnasium in Golden, Colo.

Fan attendance is not permitted per Mines and RMAC policy. Free live video will be available on the RMAC Network courtesy of Colorado School of Mines.

The Tigers hold a 21-13 advantage in the all-time series with the Orediggers, including an 8-5 edge in road duals. Mines holds a two-match winning streak in the series, including a 16-15 win in Hays in the most recent meeting (1/17/19).

Fort Hays State is looking for its first win of the season after dropping a pair of narrow losses last Saturday at the FHSU Dual Jamboree. Senior A.J. Cooper, ranked 10th at 285 pounds, earned MIAA Wrestling Athlete of the Week honors after tallying a pair of first-period pins. #2 Mason Turner, Cole Zebley, Anthony Scantlin, #6 Marty Verhaeghe and Tereus Henry also recorded wins for the Tigers in dual action.

Additional matches will also be conducted after the 10 dual matchups. Potential Tiger wrestlers in the extra matchups include Rhett Koppes, Colin Cole, Cody Hicks, Kadin Heacock, Tony Caldwell and Caleb Willis.

Mines is ranked 16th in the initial NWCA Division II ranks with three individuals ranked. Skyler Lykins is ranked eighth at 165 pounds, while Anderson Salisbury is sixth at 184 pounds and Weston Hunt sits in fifth at 285 pounds. Thursday’s dual will be Mines’ first action of the season.
