In year three of the Cowley College wrestling program, the No. 10-ranked Tigers have still never lost a home dual. Cowley completed its third straight season without losing a home dual with a dominating 42-3 win over No. 13-ranked Cloud County Tuesday inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.
“Going unbeaten at home means a lot to our guys and the wrestlers that were here before them,” Cowley head coach Beau Vest said.
On Tuesday, Cowley got pins from Ryan Smith at 133 pounds, Jake Patterson at 157 pounds, and Sage Smart at 285 pounds. The Tigers also got major decision wins from Malik Johnson (149 pounds) and Jesse Nunez (174 pounds).
“The guys wrestled well, up and down the lineup,” Vest said. “Cloud is a tough team, so I was proud of the way our guys wrestled.”
In the 165-pound match, Cowley’s Montez Robinson defeated seventh-ranked Cooper Mosier 2-1 in overtime.
“Tez won a big match, but still left a lot of offense out there,” Vest said.
The Tigers’ only loss came when No. 2-ranked Zach Ferris defeated Cowley’s Darious Hamilton 4-1.
“Darius is still rusty having wrestled in only three matches this year, but to be that close to the second-ranked guy shows he is getting there,” Vest said.
Cowley is now 10-2 in duals heading into its final regular season matchup Tuesday, March 16 at unbeaten Pratt. The Tigers will face the No. 6-ranked Beavers at 4 p.m. before taking on Colby.
“Pratt has a great program, so it will be really good competition for us,” Vest said. “We are excited for the challenge.”

*174 pounds – Jesse Nunez (CC) won a 16-0 major decision over Dante Harper (Cloud).
*184 pounds – Mikey Riley (CC) won a 13-7 decision over Thomas Orr (Cloud).
*197 pounds – Darious Hamilton (CC) lost a 4-1 decision to Zach Ferris (Cloud).
*285 pounds – Sage Smart (CC) won by fall over Micah Sterling (Cloud).
