Matt Hansen was hired by Head Coach Nick Nothern at the beginning of the school year. Hansen is no stranger to collegiate wrestling, as he brings 14 years of coaching experience with him. He served as an assistant coach at Luther College, Hastings College, and Simpson College. Hansen also served as the head coach at Doane University and was named the “Rookie Coach of the Year”, by Amateur Wrestling News Magazine. As a student-athlete Hansen, was a two-time national qualifier for the University of Nebraska-Kearney’s wrestling team.

Coach Hansen oversees the strength and conditioning program for the Panthers. This role fits right into his education and expertise, as he is a certified strength and conditioning coach certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Coach Hansen is also taking on a large portion of the recruitment for future student-athletes. Coach Nothern states, “Coach Hansen has a lot of ties around the Midwest and we feel that he will help with bringing in high quality athletes and people”.

Head Coach Nick Nothern feels that Hansen is going to be a great fit for the program. He states that, “guys have taken to him and his teaching style. I look forward to working with him and learning from his extensive knowledge and experience on the mats”. Panther wrestling is set to begin in January. Be on the lookout for the NCCC wrestling team, and new assistant coach Matt Hansen.
