Jamestown, ND – In the first official season for the Central Christian College of Kansas women’s wrestling, the Lady Tigers were one of the twenty teams invited to the 2019 NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Championships in Jamestown, North Dakota. The teams had to navigate through some rough weather to make it to the tournament, which had to be stuffed into just a one day event on Saturday. While the tournament didn’t go exactly the way the Lady Tigers would have wanted to, they can take pride in the fact that they finished their inaugural season as the #19 team in the country.

Coach Don Schreimann travelled with Citli Palifox, Kim Lambert, and Pella Wisniowski to the tournament as the Tigers’ representatives. While Palifox and Lambert were unable to pull out a victory in their two matches, Wisniowski made Tiger history as the first Lady Tiger to collect a win at the NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Championships as she won her second match of the day.

Coach Schreimann expressed his pleasure with his team’s performance, saying, “Considering that Citlali and Kim had never wrestled in a national tournament, I thought they wrestled well. It was obvious that both of them were quite nervous. Pella wrestled extremely well. She stepped up to the competition and fought hard. It was a fantastic learning experience for all of them. Next year they will be able to lead our team having been to the big show already.”
