York, Neb. – The Southwestern College women’s wrestling team competed in their second outing if its inaugural season Wednesday night at York College.

Overall, the team went 0-6 as three Lady Builders competed in two matches each. In their first performances of the season, Allie Lawrence (SR/Winfield, Kan.) and Jakayla Anthony (SO/Longview, Texas) were both able to get some much-needed in-match experience- which will serve as a major benefit moving forward and into the heart of the season.

Nisa Muhammad (FR/Forth Worth, Texas) was a bright spot for the Lady Builders in the match and continues to show great promise so far in the young season. Despite going 0-2 Wednesday, Muhammad was ahead in both matches before unfortunately getting thrown to her back and pinned in each occurrence. This was Muhammad’s second competition of the year as she was the lone Southwestern College member to partake at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois earlier this month.

“We are making improvements every match,” head coach Sarah Bollinger praised. “It was a successful day.”

Southwestern College will have a long time off before their next outing. The Lady Builders will head back to York on January 26 as they will take part in KCAC duals.
