Competing at the Viking Open Saturday at Carl Albert College in Poteau, OK, the Cowley College wrestling team had some strong performances.

The tournament itself had some flaws with more entries than expected leading to the tournament running out of time before all the matches could be completed. However, in the matches that were completed, the Tigers shined.

“We wrestled well,” Cowley head coach Justice Circle said. “Some got more matches than others. But, overall it was a great weekend for the Tigers.”

Cowley heavyweight Stefann Fearro went 3-0, while Alexzander Barajas went 4-1 at 149 pounds. Freshman Caleb O’Dell also wrestled well while winning three of four matches at 125 pounds.

Bryce Goucher went 2-2 at 184 pounds, and Lewis Caples won by technical fall in his lone match of the day at 197 pounds.

Cowley will return to the mat when they wrestle a dual at Newman University Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Wichita, KS.
