McPherson, KS – On Wednesday night, Coach Don Schreimann and the Central Christian College of Kansas women’s wrestling team got their first chance to compete in front of their peers at home. York College came to town and the two teams sent out three wrestlers each to compete in an exhibition match.

Prior to the match, referee Mark Anderson who hails from Wichita, Kansas, and has experienced refereeing internationally, took the time to explain to the Central crowd the differences between freestyle wrestling, which is the women’s wrestling rules, as opposed to the men who use folk style wrestling.

First up, Citlali Palafox took on Kylie Marlin. She would go down 2 to 1 after the first period, but made a great recovery in the second period to pin Marlin for the victory. Next up, Kim Lambert was matched up against Emily Fergeson. Lambert would find herself pinned by Fergeson in the second round. Finally, Pella Wisniowski wrestled Marissa Patterson. Patterson, a former national champion in high school, would take the technical fall victory over Wisniowski in the second round 10-0. All in all, it was a good opportunity for the Lady Tigers to showcase their skills at home for the first time ever.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action this Friday, when to go compete in the University of St. Mary’s Open.
