WICHITA – Newman Wrestling competed in their final dual of the season, taking on Central Missouri in an MIAA season finale. The Jets, who had taken part in four duals over the past two weeks, were looking for their third dual win of the season.

The Mules took the Jets by surprise in the first four matches, as Central Missouri won all four matches by fall, putting the Jets in a big deficit early.

Dylan Sheler got Newman’s first win of the day, giving the Mules a taste of their own medicine by winning via fall.

Jevin Foust returned to action and in his first match-up in over a month, won a close contest by decision, 10-6.

Bryce Kegley, while losing by major decision, was impressive and fought valiantly in a high scoring match.

Jace Fisher completed an undefeated season in duals, as he won the last contest of the day, 10-4 by decision. Fisher, who was ranked fourth in the Division II 165 weight class, defeated #7 John Ridle in the main contest of the afternoon. Fisher will hope to return to the National Championships in Wichita in about a month.

The Jets road to the national championship in their own backyard begins in two weeks, as Newman will compete at Super Regional IV in Indianapolis, where the Newman competitors can book their shot for a national championship at Hartman Arena.
