This year’s probable Tiger lineup at regionals features five wrestlers with postseason experience, four of which have placed at least once in their career at regionals, and five who will be making their regional debut.

Tereus Henry (197 pounds) will be competing in his fourth regional championship. The redshirt-junior has placed in the top three in each of his previous trips, including a first-place finish at last year’s regional championship. An All-American last season at 197 pounds, Henry is 10-2 all-time at the regional championships.

Cody Hicks (165 pounds) is making his third trip to the regional championship after placing sixth last season. Hicks is 2-5 in his career at the regional tournament.

D’Andre Brown (125 pounds), Tony Caldwell (285 pounds) and Kevin Honas (133) are all competing at the regional meet for a second time in their career. Caldwell placed fourth last year, finishing one win shy of earning a trip to the national championships. Brown was a sixth-place finisher at the Region IV Championships for Newman in 2022.

Drew Bell (141 pounds), Marcell Dely (149 pounds), Hunter Harris (157 pounds), Matthew Rodriguez (184 pounds) and Juan Urbina (174 pounds) will all make their regional debut for the Tigers this season.

Henry leads the Tigers in both wins (23), bonus-point wins (13) and technical falls (eight), ranking in the top 20 in Division II in tech falls this season. Bell has a team-high eight pins on the season, including the fastest pin by a Tiger this season at just 30 seconds. Brown leads the team with seven major decisions on the year.

Seven of the 11 teams in Region VI have at least one ranked wrestler according to the latest NWCA Division II Coaches rankings, with three teams ranked inside the top 25.

Team – Number of ranked individuals
#9 Nebraska-Kearney – 6
#14 Chadron State – 4
#24 Western Colorado – 1
Adams State – 2
Colorado School of Mines – 1

The Tigers had five placers at last year’s regional championships, with Tereus Henry and Cade Lindsey earning bids to the national championships. The Tigers have had no fewer than four placers at regionals every year since 2011, including a maximum of eight placers twice (2020, 2013).

The top three placers in each weight class Saturday will advance to Wichita, Kan. for the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships March 15-16.
